Saw the free electronic filing for 123easyfiling at the IRS web site. Federal return was free but we paid this company to have them electronically submit our State return. When we needed to talk to them about a error we felt was calculated in the state return, we tried to contact the company. No telephone number or email address was available without paying an additional fee to talk to someone even though we were being charged for the electronic state filing. Even the button listed as 'live chat' only gave a "live chat is unavailable" response. Did not matter if we tried during the morning, afternoon or night, it always came up unavailable. After trying several options, finally found one that let us submit a question if it was about a software, programming issue. We submitted it and waited. Ended up getting what seemed like a generic response from them that did not fix the problem without having to submit a amended tax return on our own to make the changes to the one they electronically submitted. Also be warned, they advertise online a lower price for doing the state return but it comes up a higher price once your free Federal is finished. To top it all off, we ended up owing for state taxes and even though this company took our bank account number to charge for filing electronically, there is nothing in the paperwork that shows if we are to pay the State tax on our own or if they submitted our bank account numbers to the state to debit our account. BOTTOM LINE, OUR FEELINGS IS THAT THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO DO A LOT OF 'USER FRIENDLY" PROGRAMMING IMPROVEMENTS AND A WHOLE LOT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPROVEMENTS OR THE IRS SHOULD REMOVE THEM FROM THEIR LIST OF FREE ELECTRONIC FILING COMPANIES.
